Society's Newsletter January 2013

Two years ago the Civic Society had awarded Honorary Life Membership to one of the distinguished councillors at Donington-with-Boscobel parish council for his local work over many years and the Society is now delighted to send our

CONGRATULATIONS TO DON HICKMAN FOR HIS AWARD OF MBE FOR
SERVICES TO THE COMMUNITY

This award is justly deserved and we hope everyone will join with us in sending him warm congratulations.

VILLAGE ENTRANCE SCHEME

We have continued our work on the Village Entrances Scheme to enhance and improve the verges where visitors and residents enter our villages. We have carried out more work to clean up the areas at the junctions of Kingswood Road/A41 and A464/Patshull Lane.

Two large bags of bulbs have been planted to the rear of the flower beds at the end of Patshull Lane – and we are very grateful and send thanks to Albrighton Garden Centre who have provided these bulbs at no cost.

Some 2000 dwarf daffodil bulbs were purchased by the Society and planted along the Newport Road, continuing towards the village from where planting ended last year.

More bulbs were also planted along Elm Road. Further bulb planting is planned for next autumn.

Thanks to John Foster, Bob Lansley, Sarah Baker, Mike Pitchford, David Hughes, Peter Woodman and John Bulmer (and his son) for their hard work clearing and planting. PLEASE SEE OUR WEBSITE FOR DATES OF THE NEXT WORKING PARTIES AND TRY TO JOIN US.
