1.     Apologises received from RS, MGP, PK

2.     Minutes of Meeting on 5th November were approved with exception of item 4 – to be discussed separated by RS & DB. ACTION RS/DB the issue will be finalised at the next Committee meeting.

3.     Updates on Continuing Projects re. Eyesores

·        General

Following the visit of Brian Bennett at the last Committee meeting, certain actions were agreed. BB had reported action on some issues, but many issues remain outstanding and PW would continue to press for further action (via Glen McGrindle).

PL stated that he was still not satisfied that the ‘deep clean’ carried out by SC staff had been effective. Nothing had been done to clean or paint the street furniture and there were still many weeds on most pavements. PW would also raise this ‘eyesore’ with Mr McGrindle, there is a problem with tree roots outside the butchers shop. ACTION PW

The strategy has got to be – keep nagging away until things get done. PW will give an invitation to Mr McGrindle to attend our next committee meeting.

The delegation of certain responsibilities from SC to the parish council is not yet agreed. ACTION DB/MW to seek further clarification.

ACTION MW will arrange for the Parish Council employee (R.Giles) to go on a course to enable him to use herbicides on the weeds in the high street.

o   Entrance Road Scheme

The shrub planting has been delayed due to the weather. They have been delivered and are in storage at Lea House, the bark is on the planting sites. The next planting day is scheduled for 17th December, weather permitting. ACTION JB

·        Smithy

It is believed the planning application for the Smithy was probably withdrawn. Nothing happening.

·        Old Bush Pub

The tables outside the pub on the high street are looking tatty. ACTION PW will contact the landlord to see if he will improve them. If not PW will contact the brewery.

·        Harp Inn

The Harp should not be putting tables on the village green, they should be told to use the garden at the back of the pub. ACTION DB/MW

·        Use of Community Service

ACTION MW will make contact with the local probation service to see if we can get a time allocation to assist with our weed cleaning and street furniture requirements.

·        Kingswood Road

A site meeting was held with Eon and SC to discuss issue of underground cables. A further meeting to take place to determine actual cable location and Brian Bennett’s staff have been asked to attend with CT scanning equipment. No trees can be planted until locations have been agreed with Eon. ACTION PW/JB

4.     Tree Planting Campaign

A&DCS will agree to participate n the rational tree planting scheme. JB was asked to front our submission for funds. PL reminded members that all 4 parishes should benefit from additional tree planting. ACTION JB

5.     Civic Award for School

Little response so far to our letter  - ACTION PW to pursue.

6.     SC Draft Guide to Planning Procedures

Still awaiting SC feedback

7.     Albrighton Station

ACTION DB to chase Councillor Illes to set-up a ‘pre-meeting’ for the Albrighton attendees at the proposed meeting with National Rail etc.

ACTION ALL PW asked all members to consider what plans could be made to rescue the old station building, most recently used as a restaurant, which failed.

8.     Pedestrian Crossing

Informal feedback indicates a pedestrian crossing in the high street is unlikely – due to lack of funds and unsuitable location.

ACTION DB will chase Mr M.Withington at SC regarding the proposed parking survey for the village.

AOB.

PL said that next year there is a national civic day – June 25th (or July 3rd ?).  We need to consider if we wish be involved. Suggestions were called for. A photographic competition was proposed and will be considered.

Date of Next Meeting – Monday 7th February 2011 at 82B High Street Albrighton.
