The
committee was pleased to receive PW’s introduction of Alan Wilmot who
will stand for election to the committee at next month’s AGM.

Main Issues
a) Station
Heritage Centre
The
petition collected many signatures on Fayre day. Each member was handed
a petition sheet and asked to get it filled up (20 names) before the November
committee meeting to increase numbers.
ACTION:
PB has asked Fiona Fortune for help in seeking additional funders as requested
by HLF. SCTG to meet FF early October date to be fixed. More work to be
done by SCTG and in particular to provide to HLF more details of the management
group who will run the Centre.
b) Villages
Entrance Scheme.
JB reported that there would be Working Parties on following dates:-

2000 bulbs have been ordered for
MP and Tony Wright who will plant them – many thanks expressed by the committee.
ACTION:
JB will make a rota for volunteer work
c) Schools
Civic Awards Scheme.
The subject for 2013 will focus
on architectural features and the title will be “Building or part of a building
of architectural interest with relevant research and the submission may
include sketches, photographs, models or a piece of writing”.
d) Village
Plan
Three committee members are members
of the Plan Steering Group – two are councillor ex-officio members and RK
is the Civic Society representative. They reported that several details
of the work are not clear – which area is covered? Is the effect of RAF
Cosford to be considered? What is the brief or statement which establishes
the remit for the work – no one had seen this.
e) AGM
8th October 2012. A draft agenda with possible topics had been issued prior to the meeting and
its topics were agreed.
Committee was grateful that Alan
Wilmot offered to run a raffle and PW said Phyl Woodman would also help
with this.
ACTION: RS will make a list of tasks to be carried out on the evening of the AGM with names of suggested members –
If
anyone wishes to change their task please contact the Secretary asap.
4. Any
Other Business
a) JB reported that weeds outside
Rumbles Chip Shop needed spraying.
ACTION:
JB would ask Steve Brown (SC) to do this.
b) JB tabled a Leaflet showing a
Tree Walk at Sidmouth and suggested that Albrighton could have a similar
one. All agreed that this was a good idea. It was noted there are other
similar Leaflets in Albrighton such as the Walks Leaflet, Leaflets produced
by the Traders Association and the Traders List Leaflet and any Tree Walk
leaflet should be coordinated with these.
