1. Apologies received from Dave Thomas & David Hughes

2. Minutes of Meeting of 3rd September 2013 were approved.

3. Main Issues

a) Treasurer’s Report.

MP had provided a copy of the accounts. Balance stood at £2,167.22 (some of this is LJC funds ring fenced for use for the Entrance Scheme). Our Lloyds Bank High St branch had become TSB and the Society’s account remained there.

b) Albrighton Arts & Heritage Forum (AAHF). SB reported that they would consider having displays in the empty shop windows. ACTION: SB would need to contact the landlords and Michael Ward may know who they are or SB may need to ask adjacent shopkeepers.

c) Albrighton Station

Temporary Access Ramp to Platform 1

PW advised that the petition now had 1550 signatures. RK asked how many people had refused to sign the petition – PW reported that the vast majority of people presented with the petition form were strongly in favour of retaining the ramp and that refusals were less than 10 people. DB confirmed that Alb PC had agreed to support the campaign. He also said that perhaps the footpath work needed on Station Rd could possibly be partially paid for by the County Construction Infrastructure Levy (CIL) from the new houses to be built.

d) Planters.

MP’s note confirmed that the 4th new planter was in his possession and would be placed on the corner near Ashfields. MP had replanted the one near Cartwrights but the others are still looking good. Many residents had made appreciative comments about the Planters.

4. Matters arising

a) School Awards 2014

After discussions with all three schools it was decided that the theme would be “Poppies in War & Peace” which all schools had found acceptable and fitted in with their curriculum.

b) Public Meeting and AGM – Monday 14th October. All arrangements were now in place.

It was decided that we would not ask for pedges for the Station Heritage Centre at this meeting as it focussed on other issues.

5. AOB

a) The Gas/Elec? company had erected a very high steel fence, grey colour, on three sides of their equipment at the north side of the footpath of Kingwood Road just beyond the old Blacksmith’s forge building. All thought this was too high and unsightly.

ACTION: PW to write to the Company complaining about the obtrusive fence and asking for the fence to be smaller and painted green

Next meeting: 2 p.m. Monday 4th November 2013.

Following Meeting will be at 2pm on Monday 2nd December 2013
